The tallest mountain above sea level, Mount Everest, in the Himalaya Mountains. But millions of years ago, there were not the Himalayas. So, how was the  Mount Everest  formed? Let's go back in time & find out how Mount Everest was formed. About  60 million years ago  a huge collision between India and the Euro-Asian continent took place. The continental drift of the tectonic plates drove these two plates to the collision. Since both are continental plates, they clashed, crumpled, and formed the mountains of Himalayas, Mount Everest was one of them. Mount Everest is made of three layers of rocks, they are: 1.
