About 60 million years ago a huge collision between India and the Euro-Asian continent took place. The continental drift of the tectonic plates drove these two plates to the collision. Since both are continental plates, they clashed, crumpled, and formed the mountains of Himalayas, Mount Everest was one of them.

  • Everest grows by about a quarter of an inch (0.25") every year.
  • It consists of different types of shale, limestone, and marble.
