Is it possible to travel in Time ?

Yes, it is! Scientists have been trying to find out new ways to travel in time for decades. Earlier it seems impossible, but not anymore. According to scientists, Time Travel is now just a technical problem that we need to solve.

Here are a few possible ways to travel forward in time,

Orbiting a Black Hole - As per Theory of Relativity we know, time slows down as we get closer to an object with high gravitational potential. Black Holes are the objects with intense gravitational potential, so if we could go closer to a Black Hole in a space-ship & orbit around it, then for us time will run slowly as compared to the people on Earth.

But the problem with this idea is that Black Hole's gravity is so intense that it bends the space-time fabric & if our spaceship will try to approach a Black Hole it will probably never return.

High Speed - The faster you move, the slower the clock gets. Albert Einstein explained it as Time Dilation through his Theory of Relativity. He further gave the Twin Paradox to help us understand better.

What is the Twin Paradox?

Twin Paradox is a thought experiment involving identical twins. One of these twins makes a journey into space in a rocket whose speed is closer to the speed of light. After the journey when he returned home, he finds out that the twin who remained on Earth has aged more!

So, if we could develop a rocket that can reach the speed closer to light, then we would be able to travel in time.

Now, let's talk about the Backward Time Travel -A large community of scientists believes that it's impossible to travel backward in time because of Grandfather Paradox.

What is Grandfather Paradox?

Suppose you traveled into the past and killed your grandfather before he met your grandmother. Now, since your grandfather never met your grandmother, your father was never born too. And if that so, then where did you come from?

But today scientists believe that they have a solution to this paradox. The solution is that when you go into the past you create a new timeline & your own timeline in which you created a time machine remains unaffected. So, if you traveled back & killed your grandfather then you've actually killed him in the new timeline that you created not the original one.

Traveling forward in time requires a vast amount of pure energy & also the technology to handle it, unfortunately, we don't have any of it today. Backward time travel is still a part of theories & scientists are continuously trying to find out new ways to make it a reality!

Hope you learned something new from this answer :)
