How can I retain what I read for long ?


What you need is to have a better long term memory so that you could recall what you've learned or read earlier.

Here are few scientifically proved ways to do so,

Meditate - Meditation is one of the most powerful tools to improve concentration. Practice meditation for at least ten minutes every day.

Exercises - Your ability to concentrate depends on your physical state as well. Your body should be fit and without any ailments. Do regular exercises that will improve your physical health which is a precursor to mental health. Only a healthy mind can concentrate.

Sufficient sleep - Research has proved that the mind has to be calm for it to concentrate. A mind without adequate rest cannot be calm, is always distracted. Sleep for 7 - 8 hours a day.
